Steel Utility Pole Training
Steel is becoming a standard material for utility poles, as management and linemen at utility companies realize its benefits. Today, over 600 electric utilities are using steel distribution poles. Lineman training with steel is essential to helping new and veteran linemen gain valuable skills they will use right away on the job.
To assist with the rather minimal learning curve associated with installing and maintaining steel utility poles, the Steel Utility Pole Coalition (SUPC) connected with respected industry leaders in utility safety and linework training, including the Institute for Safety in Powerline Construction (ISPC) and the Metropolitan Community College (MCC), to develop separate training materials for students (de-energized training) and journeyman/apprentice linemen (energized training) – including free online training.
